Robert Hill

Robert Hill, is the state consultant for students who are deaf or hard of hearing for the South Carolina
Department of Education, as well as the state director for the South Carolina Deafblind Project. He is in
his 32 year as a professional in the field, serving and presenting nationally and internationally. He holds a
Educational Specialist degree in Special Education, a Master's of Arts in Curriculum and Instruction, a
Master's of Science in Deaf Education, and graduate certificate in Early Childhood education.
He has served as an educational interpreter, classroom teacher, itinerate teacher, principal, special
education director, superintendent, and educational consultant acrossthree states, prior to coming to
South Carolina. In addition, Robert has served on the American Society for Deaf Children (ASDC),
Conference of Educational Administrators of Schools and Programs for the Deaf (CEASD), and the Council
of American Instructors of the Deaf (CAID). He also served as the CAID national president for 5 years. His
brother is deaf and his mother is deafblind so even though he has 32 years in the field professionally, it is
his personal connection to sensory access that motivates him to keep learning more and sharing with
others.
